The space for this restaurant used to be an office, divided with straight walls. Instead of using this structure, irregular divisions were built to provide privacy for the different spaces, such as the entrance, the bar, and the seating area. Furthermore, every space was personalized by illumination. For example, combining spotlights with wooden beams in the entrance so that the light did not concentrate in a specific point, rendering the origin of light unclear.
The exterior was interesting to design, as there was a tree trunk that clashed with a wall, which we intended to make see-through using crystal. However, the owner’s childhood home in Connecticut had a very similar tree, at a similar angle, leaning on a brick wall. To reminisce about this memory, we replicated the brick wall.
